Claire Miller

Claire graduated in Law from the University of Bristol in 1991, and qualified as a Solicitor in 1994. She trained and qualified at Titmuss Sainer & Webb (now Dechert) in London where she worked for a number of years before joining DJ Freeman in 2000. Claire joined Sedgwick Kelly as a partner in 2003 and became head of the Property Department in 2008.

Claire is a member of the Law Society Property Section and specialises in commercial property. She has substantial experience of acting for a range of owners, investors and occupiers in connection with the letting, development, management, sale and purchase of Commercial Property, as well as undertaking residential property work. Claire acts for a number of residential development companies, dealing with all aspects of site assembly and development, as well as plot sales following completion of the development.

Claire grew up in the area, went to school in Berkhamsted, and returned to live in a small village on the edge of the Chiltern Hills in Hertfordshire in 2003. Outside work, she enjoys a busy family life with her husband and two sons – when they can, they all enjoy walking in and exploring their local countryside together.

We worked with Claire over a period of five years on two activities: firstly the obtaining of planning permission for our new home and secondly the building and sale of our previous property, all of which has been both a constructive helpful and pleasing experience.

I would thoroughly recommend this practice. I have dealt with Claire Miller on the rental of two properties now and have nothing but praise for her and her firm. Exceptionally professional and efficient as well as value for money.

As a long-standing client of Penman Sedgwick, I am pleased to recently conclude another commercial property lease on schedule and to the satisfaction of both myself and the new tenant who was under time pressure to occupy. Claire Miller has once again provided an excellent diligent service and the response rate to solicitor replies is second to none. Always a pleasure to work with and I have no hesitation in highly recommending.

Claire Miller assisted with a complex contract for premises sale including land transfers, compensation for loss of business use and escrow account management. We as owners were advised on all aspects at every stage. No deadlines were missed, and all stages were concluded satisfactorily. Jacqueline Alderton assisted with the contracts for the sale of three businesses which included two management buyouts. Advice was given on all aspects of the business closures and redundancies. A comprehensive service was provided to the directors on their legal duties and responsibilities through to closure. Having been clients for decades we can thoroughly recommend Penman Sedgwick’s services for all business and property related matters.
