David Claydon

David is dual qualified as a Barrister and a Solicitor, although currently he practices as a Solicitor-Advocate and has done since 2003. David holds higher advocacy rights in all Courts and specialises solely in criminal defence work. Being dual qualified gives David the most thorough insight into all stages of the Criminal Justice System from initial interview to applications in the Court of Appeal. He is able to apply this in defending those accused of crimes, and he takes pride in his proven ability to furnish his clients with personal, focussed and pragmatic advice.

David provides discreet and extremely effective representation of those accused of all criminal and most regulatory offences. He has acted for a number of high profile clients who have faced allegations including high value fraud and confiscation proceedings, class A drug supply, GBH / assault, rape / serious sexual offences / internet offences, and perverting the course of justice.

David has also been the litigator in several reported cases that have helped define the law covering credit for early guilty plea, criminal intelligence / profiling and Sexual Offences Prevention Orders, and he has acted in several large scale / high profile cases that have attracted national media attention, including a case involving the largest people smuggling operation in the UK at the time (2013).

David’s outside interests include restoration of classic cars and attempting to play a decent game of squash.

I have been extremely satisfied with all aspects of your service.
